The Molecular Evolution of Complex Population Dynamics
Abbas Rizvi <ahrizvi@fas>
The molecular mechanisms giving rise to population heterogeneity within a clonal system are of paramount importance to cellular fitness. Of interest are the molecular adaptations and innovations that have occurred over evolutionary time that give rise to such phenotypic inhomogeneity. We are applying experimental and theoretical tools to study the phosphate starvation response in ascomycota fungi, with a specific emphasis on the context dependent development of homeostasis and phenotypic diversity.
