Colm P Kelleher is a postdoctoral fellow working in the Needleman Lab, where he studies meiotic and mitotic spindles — the sub-cellular structures that are responsible for organizing and segregating chromosomes during cell division. Colm earned his BSc in Mathematics and Physics at the National University of Ireland, Cork in 2008, and completed his PhD in Physics at New York University in 2017. At NYU, Colm used colloidal particles as a model system to study how crystals assemble on curved surfaces. As well as scientific research, Colm is interested in science communication and education, and has published several Ted-Ed videos on various topics in physics and math.
