About Me

As a member of the Whipple lab, Daniel uses in vitro neuron differentiation, CRISPR, high-throughput sequencing, and bioinformatics to study the cis-regulatory mechanisms underlying genomic imprinting. He specifically focuses on the relationships between genetic regulatory elements such as promoters, enhancers, and insulators, as well as how epigenetic state, higher-order chromatin structure, and non-coding RNAs influence transcriptional output. Before coming to Harvard, Daniel completed his undergraduate work at the University of Texas at Austin, earning degrees in molecular biology and biochemistry. When not in the lab, Daniel enjoys playing the piano, learning about history, playing chess, and spending time with his dog Janice.
