ADVISING AND MENTORING
Each Life Sciences concentration is supported by a dedicated academic advisor, who meets with students to provide guidance on course selection, research opportunities, and career planning. Students in the Molecular and Cellular Biology and the Chemical and Physical Biology concentrations are also paired with a tutor from the Board of Tutors in Biochemical Sciences. The Board of Tutors was established in 1926 and is a unique program at Harvard College; it consists of about 100 people, many of whom are MCB faculty members. Tutorials foster close interactions between students and a member of the faculty, and complement and expand upon the formal curriculum by helping students to think critically about scientific research.
