Catherine Dulac
Catherine Dulac is one of 11 Harvard faculty members elected as a 2009 Fellow in the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
She was awarded this distinction in the AAAS section on neuroscience for her contributions to the molecular biology of pheromone detection and signaling in mammals, and to the neural mechanisms underlying sex-specific behaviors.
Dulac is the Higgins Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB), the Chair of the Department of MCB, and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator.
Founded in 1848, AAAS is the world’s largest general scientific society and elects leaders in the sciences, the humanities and the arts, business, public affairs, and the nonprofit sector. The AAAS began honoring Fellows in 1874 as part of the mission “to advance science, engineering, and innovation throughout the world for the benefit of all people.”
Election as a Fellow is an honor bestowed upon AAAS members by their peers. This year’s 531 new Fellows will be presented with an official certificate and a gold and blue (representing science and engineering, respectively) rosette pin on Saturday, 20 February from 8 to 10 a.m. at the AAAS Fellows Forum during the 2010 AAAS Annual Meeting in San Diego.
