MCB Community Task Force Launches Food Drive for the Cambridge Community Center

The MCB Community Task Force (CTF) is pleased to announce a food drive to benefit the Cambridge Community Center (CCC), a local organization dedicated to supporting families through its food pantry and other essential community programs.

CTF member and CPB concentrator Drew Hearst took the lead in identifying CCC as an excellent partner for this year’s effort. The center accepts both non-perishable food donations and monetary contributions to help ensure that local families have access to nutritious meals during the holiday season and beyond.

In these uncertain times, many of us are fortunate to have steady jobs and the means to keep our pantries stocked. By purchasing a bit extra when we buy groceries, we can provide comfort and security to neighbors who may be struggling to feed themselves and their families.

Donation Details:

  • Collection Period: Now through Friday, December 5, until 4:00 pm, when the MCB Community Forum will be held in the BioLabs Lecture Hall, Room 1080.
  • Items Requested: Non-perishable food items, especially those commonly enjoyed at holiday meals—such as canned vegetables, boxed stuffing, cranberry sauce, instant potatoes, pasta, rice, and canned proteins.
  • Donation Drop-Off: A clearly marked collection box will be placed on the first floor in the BioLabs outside suite 1058. The box will be emptied daily.
  • Monetary Contributions: Those who wish to donate funds directly can do so through the Cambridge Community Center’s website. Donations are welcome year-round!

While we had hoped to assist CCC through volunteer work as well, local residents already have those shifts covered. However, our community can make a meaningful impact through generous donations of food and money.

Let’s come together this season to show care, compassion, and solidarity with our Cambridge neighbors. A small act—an extra can, a box, a bag—can make a real difference for someone in need. This year, the need is even more significant as food pantries are running extremely low as they have already started to distribute food that had been planned for holiday distribution.
