Nominations for the 2025 Doty-Losick Prize for Exceptional Service Open Now

The MCB Community Task Force (CTF) is delighted to solicit nominations for this year’s Doty-Losick Prize for Exceptional Service. This prize is awarded to individuals who have distinguished themselves by extraordinary and selfless service to the broader MCB community – service that goes well beyond their job description.

Nominations for the Prize are open to any individual who has contributed to the MCB department in a meaningful way, regardless of departmental affiliation. The nominee’s service may have been to the broader MCB community or a specific lab, class, or other MCB subgroup.

Nominations are now open and will be accepted until Sunday, 11.16.  To nominate a deserving individual, please complete this nomination form and include a 1-2 page statement detailing the nominee’s exceptional service and its impact. The selected nominee(s) will be awarded a cash prize and token of appreciation at the MCB Community Forum on Friday, December 5th at 4 PM and will be featured in MCB news channels.

The Doty-Losick Prize honors Professors Paul Doty and Rich Losick, leaders whose commitment to community helped to shape MCB. In 1967, Paul Doty founded and served as the first chair of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, a predecessor of MCB. Rich Losick served as chair of the Department of Cellular and Developmental Biology (1984-1987), another MCB predecessor. He also served as MCB chair from 1995-1998 and again from 2013-2014.

Past recipients include Brittany Walsh (2024), Victoria D’Souza (2022), Michel Becuwe, Monique Brewster, Sien Verschave, and Kathleen Quast (2021), Michelle Cicerano (2020), Dominic Mao, Laura Magnotti, and Ryan Draft (2019), Adnan Syed (2018), and Andrew Murray (2017).
