It’s that time of year again—when the iconic rhinos outside the BioLabs building get a seasonal makeover! Continuing a beloved MCB tradition, the first-year students in the Molecules, Cells, and Organisms (MCO) PhD Program are once again bringing Halloween spirit to campus with creative costumes for the BioLabs rhinos.
This year’s theme draws inspiration from the world of the movie Wicked. The rhinos will be transformed into Elphaba and Glinda, just in time to celebrate the upcoming release of the second Wicked film in November.
“Our cohort is greatly looking forward to decorating the rhinos for Halloween this year,” says Audrey Sweten, a current MCO G1 student and one of the event’s team leads. “It’s such a fun way to take part in a long-standing MCB tradition and add some joy to the BioLabs lawn.”
Audrey, along with fellow team leads Guo “Coco” Cheng and Gates Yin, helped organize the effort, coordinating the design and materials for this year’s decorations.
Be sure to stop by the BioLabs building to see the rhinos in their Halloween best.
