Rachelle Gaudet Honored with Mentoring Award

Rachelle Gaudet Honored with Mentoring Award

The student-run organization Harvard Graduate Women in Science and Engineering (HGWISE) has named MCB faculty Rachelle Gaudet “Mentor of the Year.”

The award recognizes faculty and GSAS alumni who participate in the HGWISE Mentoring Program. Awardees are chosen based on nominations from graduate students themselves. This year, HGWISE received a record number of nominations for the award.

“I’m really touched to receive this award because I care a lot about mentoring, and I have found the HGWISE mentoring program to be deeply rewarding,” says Gaudet, who has been part of the HGWISE mentorship program since its inception in 2008 .

“It’s important to me to provide a forum in which the women graduate students I mentor can network, be open about their successes and struggles, and share advice,” Gaudet adds. “I’ve developed a very close relationship with the three women I currently mentor and I look forward to each of our meetings and conversations. So this award is really the cherry on top!”

Founded in 2005, HGWISE is a graduate student organization that fosters the personal, academic, and professional development of women in STEM graduate programs at Harvard. In addition to mentoring opportunities, HGWISE organizes career development and social events, journal clubs, and community outreach events.

Congratulations to Professor Gaudet!
