Hopi Hoekstra Named as a 2021 AAAS Fellow

MCB and OEB faculty Hopi Hoekstra has been elected to the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), joining a cohort of AAAS Fellows that includes many of the world’s most distinguished scientists. It is one of the most prestigious distinctions awarded to U.S. researchers.

“It is a true honor to be selected as a Fellow along with so many colleagues I admire,” says Hoekstra. “I would like to acknowledge the contributions of the talented trainees and collaborators with whom I have been fortunate to work; science is most rewarding, for me, when done as a team.”

AAAS Fellows are chosen on the strength of their scientific and technological contributions, as well as their teaching and efforts to communicate science. This tradition of electing new AAAS Fellows each year dates back to 1874.  Hoekstra is part of the 2021 class of AAAS Fellows and joins the Section on Biological Sciences.

Congratulations to Professor Hoekstra!
