Yong-Mi is originated from Korea and earned her PhD at Stony Brook University under the supervision of Dr. Michael Airola.
During PhD, she was trained as a structural and biochemical scientist with having a curiosity about lipid metabolism.
Especially, she loves lipid droplets and is passionate to understand lipid droplet biology, which is fulfilled with mysteries and excitements.
Now as a postdoc, she is widening the scope of LD research from biochemistry to cell biology, to fully understand how lipid droplets are mobilized in brain.
Besides pursing the science, Yong-Mi enjoys walking, playing tennis, planting, and cooking.
